Northern Renaissance art phenomenon developed in the XV-XVI centuries in the European countries North of Italy - the Netherlands, Germany, France, Spain. Painting of the Northern Renaissance was born and developed on the background of the turbulent and dramatic events of the era. Religious wars, reformation (in Germany developed into a Peasant war), the revolution in the Netherlands, the Reconquista in Spain, the dramatic events of the hundred years war between France and England could not affect the nature of the art of these countries. At the same time, the growth of cities and the development of trade and crafts, as well as the rapid spread through the new invention of printing - humanistic ideas and knowledge about the world, contributed to the emergence and formation of a new type of man. This man, an enlightened humanist, is not only one of the main customers of art, but also the object of the image: in this period, the genre of the portrait is experiencing unprecedented growth. Trade contributed not only to the growth of capital (and consequently the appearance of large art collections), but also the dissemination of new artistic trends, exchange experience. At full speed there is a process of interpenetration of cultures; Dutch painting had a significant impact on the art of the Italian Renaissance. In turn, and Italian painting largely determined the appearance of the art of the Northern Renaissance: Venetian school of painting had an undeniable impact on the artistic manner of Albrecht dürer, and subsequently played a significant role in the formation of a unique pictorial language Spanish genius of El Greco.

Netsuke (ne - "root", tsuke - "attach") is a keychain, a kind of counterweight, by means of which the belt was worn by all sorts of small items. The need for such a device was caused by a lack in the Japanese national costume pockets. Having appeared in the XV century as a subject for domestic purposes, in the XVIII century netsuke turns into an independent art form that combines the features of the sculpture and decorative arts, has a specific set of forms, materials and range of subjects. The flowering of art netsuke came during the period of XVIII-XIX centuries, which can rightly be considered the "Golden age" of miniature sculpture. The book presents the biography of 239 natsukashi (netsuke carvers), who worked for nearly three centuries: from the mid-eighteenth to the late twentieth century.

Books about Solzhenitsyn huge. These are mountains of books, articles, research papers, dissertations, enthusiastic and polemical responses. It would seem that the space for the most diverse views, interpretations, aesthetic, philosophical and political interpretations of the role and place of the writer in literary and socio-political life of the country and the world. One is apologetics (if speaking about the work of the "great writer of the Russian land" - genuflection and delight, if his biography - the halo of the prophet and genius, a biography, and the life). And another, opposite: revelations, mockery, pamphlets and lampoons.

В книге также представлены фотографии, сделанные Н. В. Пинегиным непосредственно во время путешествия в полярные широты. В издание также включен очерк «70 дней борьбы за жизнь» — история перехода В. И. Альбанова и его спутников по дрейфующим льдам Арктики. Альбанов был штурманом на корабле «Святая Анна», на котором экспедиция под командованием Г. Л. Брусилова хотела пройти по Северному морскому пути. Когда судно оказалось зажато льдами, Альбанов и еще 10 членов экипажа попытались дойти до обитаемой земли. В итоге, когда путешественники добрались до судна «Святой Фока», на котором находился в том числе и Н. В. Пинегин, в живых остались только двое — Альбанов и матрос Конрад. В качестве приложения в книге помещена написанная Н. В. Пинегиным биография Георгия Седова — командира экспедиции к Северному полюсу, трагически погибшего во льдах Арктики.
