Uncle Tom's cabin

Many sources of varying degrees of plausibility claim that someday when you meet the author of "uncle Tom's Cabin," Abraham Lincoln allegedly said this: "This little lady start of the great war." Novel by the American writer Harriet Beecher Stowe very quickly acquired international fame and recognition. Written in typical nineteenth-century sentimental style "women's prose" this book have nevertheless made a tremendous revolution in public sentiment, having won an important place not only in the history of literature, but simply in history as the most noble reason for the Civil war between North and South became a struggle for the abolition of slavery. And in this struggle the book little women made an invaluable contribution.
