From murder to murder

In the South-Western part of India, on the ocean coast, between Goa and Calicut, is a small and not particularly remarkable town Kittur. In this provincial town life flows slowly, but as always, it is filled with funny and terrifying, tragic and lyrical. A Mohammedan boy who serves tea in the station, falls into the network of Islamic terrorists; the modest bookseller is arrested for selling "Satanic verses"; a rich high school student-blood decides to blow up his College; fake sexologist, selling drugs and giving advice on the part sexual life, forced to seek real medicine for a man who is sick of a mysterious illness. These and other stories are woven into the lace of everyday life Kittur and its inhabitants, and the result is a portrait of provincial India in the seven years between the two assassinations — Indira Gandhi and her son Rajiv. This was the beginning of huge changes that are now rapidly unknown in India.
