Shylock

Honore de Balzac undoubtedly one of the best French novelists of the nineteenth century. The most important feature of his work is that he's not just left behind an impressive literary legacy, but also captures the history of an entire society. In his "Human Comedy," which includes about a hundred works, a talented wizard create a Grand gallery of images is not less than two thousand representatives of different classes. Among them was a place of great intelligence and power to the moneylender Shylock, who holds in his hands the fate of many brilliant Parisian aristocrats. He is a character in several novels of Balzac and the novel "Shylock" (1830), which is presented in this book. A hunter for the money and becomes the hero of published here philosophical novel "the Magic skin" (1831). Through his story the author has expressed an important idea: the person that betrayed its own ideals, loses the right to happiness and inevitably goes to destruction.
