Since time immemorial, in moments of severe suffering at the birth of children, when death is so close, women come running with a particularly fervent prayer to the Savior and His most pure Mother. In pious families, and in our time you can see the icon of the mother of God called "Help in childbirth". In it the virgin is depicted standing in growth up to prayer hands and with the preeternal Baby on the lap. This image resembles somewhat the icon "the Sign".
