Edmond Rostand was a brilliant playwright who was destined at the turn of XIX-XX centuries to revive the tradition of French romantic art. The glory of his plays - "Princess Dreams" (1895), "Eaglet" (1900), "Chantecler" (1910) - overshadowed a heroic Comedy "Cyrano de Bergerac", first staged at the Paris theater "Port of St. Maarten" 27 Dec 1897. The hero of her French poet and philosopher of the XVII century, the famous wit and duelist. This work 29-year-old author, thanks to the brilliant Alexandrian verse, combined with a poignant love affair that was destined to become one of the most performed plays of the world theatre.
