Description
Novel by Stendhal "Red and black" — the universally recognized literary masterpiece of the nineteenth century. It is known that Pushkin by reading in 1831 in French the first volume of modern literature was ecstatic and begged the Princess Khitrovo urgently to send him the second.
The story of ambitious and talented young man, came from the lower classes, was read by A. I. Turgenev, P. A. Vyazemsky, L. N. Tolstoy. Having come to the conclusion that "in our age money is everything", the young Julien Sorel proceeds to a kind of social climbing and, in fact, relatively easily achieves his goals. Among the many assumptions about the significance of the novel "Red and black" you can find a version on which Stendhal disguised secret flowers under two feelings raging in the soul of the ambitious young men: the passion as a spiritual impulse, as instinctive affection and ambition, combined with the desire for fame, recognition at any cost. The interpenetration and struggle of these feelings constitute the inner intrigue of the novel by Stendhal. But is that enough to be happy?
