In his first experience in the field of historical prose – the novel "the Prince and the pauper" (1877-1880, publ. 1881) was an American writer mark TWAIN skillfully weaves ancient literary motif mixed twins (commemorative each in "Comedy of errors" and "Twelfth night" by Shakespeare) in an outline of English history of the XVI century. On the same day in London, two boys are born similar to each other as two drops of water: in the Royal Palace is born Edward Tudor, the Prince of Wales, the future king of England Edward VI, whose birth celebrates the whole country, and in a miserable shack of Yard Waste, over the next Refreshment, the son of a thief and a beggar Tom Kenty, in which family change is not happy no one. A few years later they by chance temporarily change places, and soon the little beggar due to the death of the old king has a unique opportunity to rule the whole country, and the young Prince gets a lesson behind a lesson from his poorest subjects...
