Description
The novel "Austeria" great Polish writer Julian Stryjkowski occurs on the first day of the First world war. On the outskirts of the Galician Jewish town tavern, loudly called Austeria, where as a refuge for all sorts of people who have sought refuge from the advancing Russian troops: the local Jews, the Polish priest, Hungarian hussars, a group of Hasidim. They don't know what awaits them tomorrow, but the drama is already unfolding - killed a young girl, the city lights, the Cossacks rampant...
According to this novel by the famous Polish Director Jerzy kawalerowicz made the film, which won the prize "Golden Gdańsk lions".
