The book "Flying hero" prepared for the 70th anniversary of the classic of modern Russian literature of Andrei Bitov, novelist, screenwriter, social activist and winner of many literary prizes, the President of the Russian Pen club.
Along with the novel "Pushkin house", named in its time a landmark is the St. Petersburg book by the author, consisting of two sections.
Roman-dotted "Flying Monks" was built as "a Hero of our time" Lermontov: short stories linked by one character. But if Pechorin - hero of the same age, the Monks within six heads home to half a century: all seasons men age, from teenager to an elderly person. But the first motive of love permeates all six short stories of the novel. Fate or retribution? This seems difficult to understand and the author himself, so long he answered this question.
The novel has been translated into many languages and was awarded the State prize of Russia in 1992.
Monks from St. Petersburg, his hometown is somehow the background of all his love stories.
In St. Petersburg the Suite "the Palace without a king" endless first love turns out to be St. Petersburg itself. This work received an Award named after Ivan Bunin in 2006.
