Description
The Margaret Mitchell novel was published in 1936 and was a phenomenal success among readers. Only in the first years of its circulation exceeded three million, and "gone with the wind" was named "book of the century". In 1939, the screens out the eponymous film (featuring Vivien Leigh and Clark gable), who won eight Oscars and has become one of the top grossing films in cinema history. Despite the polar praise from literary critics, the novel won the prestigious Pulitzer prize, it was compared with "War and peace" by Leo Tolstoy, and Margaret Mitchell put on a par with the great classics of world literature. The book was published more than 70 publications in the United States alone, has been translated into dozens of languages and still enjoys continued popularity among readers worldwide.
