Hap Thompson lives in a futuristic North America, where household appliances possess consciousness, where you can literally settle in to the Network and where there is a way to give another man a disturbing dream. In fact, he is engaged in the storage of dreams, earning decent money. And money may be even greater, if in addition to dreams hold memories. This work is much more dangerous and is prohibited by law. However, Hap has agreed and is now forced to pay for their recklessness: his head is the only place where memories about the murder of a policeman, he did not commit.
