Description
Epic novel by Victor Hugo "Les Miserables" (1862) — a huge text, without which it is impossible to imagine the spiritual history of the nineteenth century. In essence, this is "war and peace" by the great French classics, only here not reflected the opposition of the enemy armies, but a war waged between good and evil in the human soul and society. When creating "Les Miserables" author, he said, was primarily concerned with three topics: "the oppression of men... women fall because of famine, and the withering of the child because of the darkness of ignorance", which is reflected in the stories of the main characters: convict Jean Valjean, Fantine and Cosette. Fantastically twisted adventurous storyline makes to follow with close attention the events unfolding on the streets of old Paris, in the slums and on the barricades. Not by chance in the twentieth century, there are dozens of film adaptations of Les misérables — from silent film "On the barricades" (1907) to the last film Tom Hooper.
