Dead souls

The release of the first volume of "Dead souls" N. Gogol in 1842, has sparked controversy contemporaries, splits society into fans and opponents of the poem. "...Speaking of "Dead souls" — can be enough to stop talking about Russia..." is a judgment by P. Vyazemsky explained the main cause of disputes and defined the special place of books in the history of Russian literature. Today, no one doubts that we face the greatest work, rightly included in the Golden Fund of the national classics. "Dead souls" is taught in school. However, as adults, need to flip through the familiar pages. Like 160 years ago, the poem forces the reader to plunge into the atmosphere of Gogol's Russia; it causes a lot of reflection not only about the past but also about the present and future of our country. Still relevant the question of the author: "Rus, where are you rushing, give me the answer?"
