Description
The collection of the famous writer Vasily Pavlovich Aksenov along with new texts includes fragments of large and small works, as well as completed stories, which somehow sounds American note. After the forced emigration from the USSR in 1980 the author for 24 years lived in the United States and taught Russian literature and cultural studies at American universities. In this book he tries to show how the American environment (chronotope) becomes a kind of building material for the creation of modern Russian novels. Shying away from the political debate, he is focusing on purely artistic and metaphorical interaction of two cultures.
