The book is one of the leading Swedish documentary filmmakers and writer Lena Einhorn tells the story of her mother during the Second world war. Nina, a Polish Jew who survived the Warsaw ghetto and told her daughter that a few years later published a memoir of his mother, calling them "Nina's Journey". For deceptive ease this name hides and indeed the whole journey of life: childhood in the Polish town of Lodz, one year of living in America, adolescence spent in the ghetto, and then in a dilapidated shelters of Warsaw, and finally emigration to Sweden, which has become a second home to them.
