Austrian writer and philosopher Leopold von Sacher-Masoch can be called one of the most mysterious, weird and painfully sophisticated authors of the nineteenth century. His works are intricately intertwined mystical, historical, sublimely erotic and perverted (even his famous contracts to sell themselves into slavery two loved and loving women simultaneously fascinate and horrify his sincerity. Thanks to the most famous novel by Sacher-Masoch "Venus in furs", a phenomenon now known as "masochism", not only got its name, but also became one of the philosophical and cultural issues of our century.
