"Cavalry" - one of the masterpieces by Isaac Babel, a master of the short novel, insightful, subtle and ironic narrator, "sent to people", as he wrote in his autobiography, Maxim Gorky. Civil war, Babel was with the First Cavalry army of Budyonny.
