The cavalry

"Cavalry" - one of the masterpieces by Isaac Babel, a master of the short novel, insightful, subtle and ironic narrator, "sent to people", as he wrote in his autobiography, Maxim Gorky. Civil war, Babel was with the First Cavalry army of Budyonny. Terrible and dashing the events of those years are reflected in the pages of CinemaScope cycle; there is a place of generosity and cruelty, victories and defeats, tragic and funny.
