Description
Carlo Gozzi (1720 — 1806) was a famous Italian poet and playwright, famously revived traditional Italian Comedy of masks, having written a number of fabulous pieces that are called "thalami", based on legends and folk tales. Pieces for more than 200 years will not go with world of different scenes and bizarre magical atmosphere, miraculous transformations and the presence of familiar characters-mask — Pantalone, Truffaldino, and others.
The present volume includes all 10 fairy tales-fab, created by the brilliant pen of Carlo Gozzi, which precedes his essay "Upright reasoning and the true history of the origin of my ten tales for the theatre." In addition, the book contains 50 images of characters of the Italian Comedy of masks, made famous by the French artist Maurice Sandom, and afterword by famous Russian art critic Jacob Bloch.
