Andropov

Short reign of Andropov clearly showed that in our society there was not only a desire for democracy, the protection of the rights and freedoms of the individual, reflected in the movement of dissidents, with whom Brezhnev, and Andropov waged a constant struggle. In society there were no less strong desire for "order" and respect for "strong leader", "master", is able to care primarily about the welfare of the people and not about their own benefits or privileges to their environment, behavior, characteristic of the Brezhnev leadership. That is why a considerable part of the population openly and curiously welcomed the coming to power of Andropov and his first measures to restore order.
