Joshu: the lion's roar

Josh is one of the most beloved masters of Zen. History knows many great masters, but none of them enjoyed such love as Josh. Only by such a poet... great skill in banging out some of the Buddhas of the stones of humanity.

...Strange methods that strange people. In any century Zen could not be the religion of the crowd. He couldn't be anything like the Catholic religion: six hundred million people could not understand him. It is a religion of the few, because it requires a big heart and a great mind, and is the privilege of the few.
I introduce you to Zen for a very simple reason: all religions have destroyed your laughter, destroyed your smiles, destroyed your craving for creativity; they have destroyed even a sense of humor. But life without a sense of humor and no life at all.
