Vladimir Grahovski was a successful surgeon in Soviet Russia. In 1978, at the height of his surgical career was already an elderly man, he and his family went to America and began life anew.

Unlike most immigrants, unable to work in their new homeland, Vladimir Grahovski and in America, as in the USSR, went from a doctor to Professor of the American hospital and rightful authority in the field of surgery. All this he related in his two books - "Russian doctor in America" and "American doctor from Russia", published in "Zaharova".
